Deetlefs Wine Estate

Deetlefs Wine Estate, established in 1822, is the second oldest wine estate in South Africa under ownership of the same family. Each couple will receive:

6 Bottles Estate Voyage 3566.1 2019 presented in a beautiful wooden box signed by Kobus Deetlefs.
Ferdi Visser, the winemaker, will accompany the two couples for the weekend for the ultimate wine experience.
Private tasting at Deetlefs Wine Estate with the 7th generation owner, Kobus Deetlefs, followed by lunch overlooking the beautiful Breedekloof wine valley.

About the wine:

Blend:
100% Viognier

Vinification:
Viognier grapes were harvested when full ripeness was achieved. This allows the full varietal potential to be showcased. Three different winemaking techniques are used to ensure a balanced but very complex Viognier that can compete with the best in the world. Whole bunch, hyper-oxidation and skinferments are used to add complexity.

Tasting notes:
Deep rich yellow colour. Extremely complex nose of peach and apricot blossoms with strong Jasmine flower aroma leading to ripe pineapple, dried mango and orange peel. On the palate this wine is big and bold with layer upon layer of off floral and ripe yellow fruit. The taste is elegant yet well structured.

Bidvest Car Rental

Bidvest Car Rental, Cape Town, will offer the two couples luxury transport for the duration of the weekend with a private driver.

Itinerary for the 3 days / 2 nights experience will include:

Day 1:
Bidvest Car Rental will collect the 2 lucky couples in Cape Town.
Welcome drinks at Deetlefs Wine Estate with Kobus Deetlefs (owner) & Ferdi Visser (wine maker) on the way to Aquila Private Game Reserve.
Ferdi Visser will accompany the two couples on the weekend and driver will take them to Aquila Private Game Reserve.
Dinner

Day 2:
Game drive
Breakfast
Transfer will transport guests to Deetlefs Wine Estate for an exclusive private tasting with Kobus Deetlefs followed by lunch. Wine tasting will include the legendary Muscat d’Alexandrie 1974, most expensive dessert wine in the world.
Driver will transport guests back to Aquila Private Game Reserve to enjoy a game drive followed by dinner.

Day 3:
Game Drive
Breakfast
Driver to transport guests back to Cape Town.
