The Lot Info
The Lot Summary
Great Domaines, exclusive importer and distributor of the finest wines in the world, and its partners are offering the highest bidder a unique Champagne and Tennis experience that money can’t buy.

Great Domaines, which turns 20 this year, exclusively represents in South Africa some of the most revered names in the wine world; such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in Burgundy (France), Petrus in Pomerol (France), Jean-Louis Chave in the Northern Rhône (France), Vega Sicilia in Ribera del Duero (Spain), Sassicaia and Soldera in Tuscany (Italy), Château Musar in Bekaa Valley (Lebanon) and Egon Müller in the Mosel (Germany).

Great Domaines is committed to education and transformation in South Africa. They have therefore partnered with two of their Champagne producers, Champagne Lanson and Champagne Pol Roger, both bearing the royal warrant, to put together an exclusive Champagne experience.

For over 40 years now, Champagne Lanson has been associated with the world’s favourite tennis tournament, The Championship Wimbledon. As part of this experience, they are offering a lucky couple two VIP tickets to see the men’s quarter-finals on the 8th July 2020 in Champagne Lanson’s VIP suite, together with two nights in four-star accommodation in London and all transfers to and from the tournament.

To complete the experience, the couple is invited to visit the Champagne House in Reims where they will have the opportunity to do an exclusive tour of this prestigious and historical House, followed by a VIP tasting of Champagne Lanson’s extensive range. This year, the House celebrates its 260th anniversary. Since 1760, they have a created champagne with a truly unique style – fresh, crisp and elegant with a longer ageing potential.

The second Champagne experience is made possible by Champagne Pol Roger, Sir Winston Churchill’s favourite house and the chosen supplier of champagne poured at the past four royal weddings. Pol Roger, not usually open for visits to the general public, is offering a unique tasting including a very rare 1921 vintage, a dinner for two with Mr Laurent d’Harcourt, CEO of Pol Roger, and a night stay at the 5-star hotel, Villa Eugene in Epernay.

Champagne Pol Roger, the smallest of the grande marques, doesn’t want to be the best known but only known by the best. Champagne Pol Roger has remained family owned and run since 1849, by descendants of their founder Pol Roger. The House has a reputation for producing champagne of finesse and elegance. Made from equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, the Pol Roger Brut Réserve is consistently one of the very best non-vintage cuvées on the market due to the high proportion of aged reserved wines in the blend.
